Hi

Have a M55 insert where the oak comes from outside, runs in crawlspace, up through a hole to stove. There is a gap where the oak goes up through the crawlapace to the stove. I was thinking of putting foil tape to seal the gap. When ac turns on, j can smell a very faint musty smell from the stove. Definitely from this opening. Not a big deal. Should I use the foil tape or gap filler?

Thanks

Foil tape would work but if the space is not too large
maybe caulk it. This way you have a flexible seal

I think some sort of gap filler/caulk would serve you well. My experience with metal tape is that, when it sticks it's great but there are some surfaces that, over time, it will pull away from.
