Well, after struggling with this thermostatic draft control on the Shenandoah R77 all last year and the last two months this year accompanied with a chimney fire for Christmas last year I finally reached my breaking point. I removed the flap and welded in a cross bar with a piece of threaded rod to make a screw in/out draft control that stays where I set it instead of damping itself down and turning into a creosote factory.
Tell me what you all think.
