I'm looking to buy at least 4 cords of log-length unseasoned firewood and the best price I've found for a truckload is about $100/cord. This seems a little expensive compared to some prices I'm seeing on here. Anyone possibly have contact they'd be willing to share that could deliver to the South Deerfield area??

Hey JonOfSunderland when you go to those little gas and groceries around the outskirts of town check out those hasty bulletin boards that advertise puppies, kittens etc...around here it's not uncommon to see cords of wood for sale.
Also those free newspapers that clutter your mailbox like swap sheets here we call them PennySavers, often times they have fire wood for sale.
As far as price goes, well that's whatever the market will bear.

Sunderland - nice town. I'd try craigslist. In the farm & garden section, place a want ad. Also, there's another web forum I've been to but can't remember the name, set up kind of like this one, that caters more to arborists - that might be a place to try.

That could be your best buy unless you find a contractor clearing a lot. Also check on the type of wood your getting for $100. I see the tree companies are doing line clearing. You may get some free from homeowners if you can transport. Never hurts to ask.
I'm below you in north central CT and $100 is what I'm finding too. I hear of cheaper but they don't call you back. The diesel is hurting the processors and leaving us with a $100/cord for logs. My advice is get it while you can.
Not a bad deal IF the wood is high BTU hardwood: hard maple, oaks, hickory, beech....

i just bought a full cord for $40 bucks of craigs list from a guy who is moving and has to get all wood out of the yard immeditly, going back for another cord and a half today 3 yr seasond covered wood, ash, ceder, maple, and birch. u never know whats out there.
