how is it constructed?yup, I have 2 of them. 4x5x8. good for the shoulder season, wood fired grill, and the little stoves.
Shorts and uglies go in a pile next to the outdoor fire pit where they are all consumed in due time.
...i prob. have approx. 4 pallets worth of knotted/shorties/and just plain unstackables.....if i do build a box for them, it sure is gonna be fun retrieving them.....the knotty, twisted unsplitables do take longer to completely season than splits
.....i like the holzhausen way, but i need my creepies and short uglies to dry by winter...which is why i'm second guessing putting them between the rows...back to the drawing board i guessI used to put them on top of my stacks, but soon found out I still needed more room Crotches and shorts was one of the driving factors to start stacking in holz hausen/mieten's. All my splits stay on the outside, and the uglies are hidden away!
.....where do you send them to get straightened out? i have some unruly little buggers that could use a good exile.... for thier own good...I banish them until they straighten up, and then I burn them.
Pallets are free , make a bin, simplei'd like to have a bin for uglies, and also a good way to store kindling.....i was thinking of using some rebar tying wire from work to tie up some bundles of kindling...
no they don't, they actually dry faster, in the right environmentthe knotty, twisted unsplitables do take longer to completely season than splits
