Las Vegas, NV
A decision has been made. Plans have been drawn. We are moving West, and a bit South. A perfect storm of circumstances have made it clear to us that it is time to leave NY and resettle in Sunny Las Vegas, (Henderson), Nevada. The house will be on the market soon and I am certainly not gonna need much firewood out there. I stopped harvesting in the spring of 2014, but the three year plan and a mild winter leaves me with about 4 1/2 cords of well seasoned Red Oak, Black Locust, and White Oak. I'm thinking that I'll leave a starter pile for the next owners, but that the property will probably show better if i clean things up a bit. I plan to sell at least three cords of White Oak, c/s/s during winter and spring 2014. I documented the scrounge at https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/white-oak.95430/ I have never sold firewood and I'm sure I won't get what its worth to me after all my work. Anybody here interested? I can't efficiently deliver this quantity so it would have to be picked up in Croton on Hudson, NY.
Here are some older pictures.

Is this place still a wood burning site?

That's a really nice stack for sale. Unfortunately I don't have a truck, or I'd be all over it. I suppose I could rent a truck and pick it up (do you think I could fit it in a Uhaul)? I'm trying to get a couple years ahead myself and am almost there but hard to pass up actually seasoned white oak. Especially in this area. Hopefully someone here takes advantage of this but if you don't get any takers let me know and I'll try to figure something out.

I think Milrent in Peekskill rents a smaller dump truck. At least they did a few years ago. Its a Mitsubishi Fuso or something like it. Its probably big enough to do it one two trips and it dumps!

Thanks for the tip. I called them and they said they could rent me a 3 yard dump truck for $299/day plus $0.69/mile. Asked about the Mitsubishi and the guy didn't sound like he knew what I was talking about. I think I'm about 25 miles from you and I'd probably need to make a few trips so I don't think I'm a contender for this.

I read through that thread of the original scrounge and that sounded like quite an adventure! Best of luck with the sale and the move out west.

Best of luck to you. I lived out West many years ago, been to Las Vegas too many times to count. Nights can still be cool out there, but nothing like the East coast. What you going to do with your saws and other firewood support equipment?

Certainly a lot of wood. But if you want it. I'm pretty sure Lowe's rents large pickups with high side walls on the bed for like $30 an hour? A few trips in 3 hours? Not to bad. I didn't see an asking price for the wood in the original post though.

Firewood sells for at least $200/cord around here. The would include delivery, but it would also most likely not be dry enough to burn cleanly in a modern stove. I am open to offers. For a serious wood burner I have almost a whole seasons worth of wood ready to burn, just has to be moved. Is somebody has the equipment to seal with it, it would be a bargain. I figure that I'd be more likely to find that guy here than on Craigslist.

Oy Vey, selling in NY- pia- son just closed last month after signing the offer to purchase last Nov.

Congrats and good luck ... are you going to do rigging for the Vegas shows?

No hints for the wood but friends moved from Wisconsin to Henderson a few years ago and are loving it.

Yes Jake, I will be doing the same work out there. I have already made a few work contacts and should be able to stay busy.

I just bought 25 acres, but won't have anything to burn until next year so could definitely use this wood. Unfortunately, I'm about 2.5 hours away in Delhi and with no truck I can't make the rental numbers work.

If by chance there's someone in the Catskills that wants to split the cost of a truck, reach out to me.

Good luck with the move.

Good luck with the move and your new endeavors, please keep us posted and keep posting on here after you have moved!

Good luck with the house sale and the move (and the new job). Hopefully somebody in the know will help off load that wood for you.

Awesome. Soon you'll be enjoying constitutional carry I hear.
I always say WV is me second favorite state. They are wild and they love it. Instead of trying to stiffle it to fit in with the cities.

We're still living wild and free down here in MS.

Boy has this place changed since Craig sold out!

The whole gun thing. This used to be a gun free zone. It was in Craig's forum rules. I'm talking about a life change and looking for advice and a possible buyer of my firewood and there a some guys having a conversation about gun laws state by state. Start your own damn thread if you you want to compare gun laws!

Sorry to rain on the parade. It was commentary on the difference from state to state. I never noticed a "no off topic discussion" rule. Or gun free zone sign. In a new guy around here maybe I missed that.
But if your only looking to sell, and not to discuss a move shouldn't this be in the classified section?

Flatbedford, I'm pretty sure the no guns talk still holds true but I'm late to that party. Hope you find a buyer for the house and good luck with the rigging work in Vegas. If you search, you will see that we have some pellet burners in Arizona & New Mexico ... not sure if any are from Nevada but might be the way to deal with the evening chill and still provide you with some fire view. :) Make sure you stop in once in a while to let us know how you are making out.

Isn't it great how the forum is full of more tolerant people now ?

Good for you, getting out of the NY metro area. I'm heading to Colorado in may to scope it out for a future move. I've had enough of the north east. Looking for a change of life style and lower taxes!
Good luck and definitely keep us updated.
