I am going to use a Duratech Flat Ceiling Support Box on my upcoming install, and I've seen some confusing stuff online about it. The DT catalog says "Use adapter to attach DVL or DuraBlack to the support box," but it does not indicate that the adapter is a feature of the box. However, other online content leads me to believe that the box features a built-in adapter.

If I use this support box, will I need to purchase an adapter to install the single wall pipe into it, or does the box have an adapter already built in?

I installed one for a buddy and it was single wall in and had the double wall receiver inside the box for the outlet connection. This was for a vaulted ceiling straight through the roof. If I remember correctly the duratech system came with a slip connection that went into the support box and could be slid down to make the final connection to the stove/appliance. My buddy bought the parts so not sure if it was separate item.

The ceiling support does not come with the adapter. You will need to get a single wall adapter. This link shows it. (broken link removed to http://www.duravent.com/uploads/images/Product%20Bulletin%20Images/DuraBlack%20DB%206591-6891%20Low%20Resolution.jpg)
