We live in a state forest and every year get a FREE permit for dead falls (we could get one for felling trees also). Kathy went up last Friday and got the permit which usually lasts a month but was told that "due to the expected increase of people collecting wood that the permits were now only valid for one week instead of one month".
We know the person giving out the permit and Kath got into a discussion as to how many people apply for it. The lady behind the desk told Kath "only 4-5 of the locals get one". Kathy asked "how many others applied this year so far" and to her/our astonishment the park official said "you are the first this year".
So if you participate in something like this, have you seen a change in the protocol or the number of people in parks/forests cutting wood for their stoves?
