For whatever reason I don’t know I am going to do the slots for my Grandma baffle. A 3 x 3 slot in each corner is easy to define but if it is 2 x 3 slot I need to know the orientation. Should it be 3 left to right or 2 left to right? After a test period I will report back after it is slotted with the results.

Yes, 2 inches in from from front edge, 3 inches across. Post #92 in the Baffle Thread gives notch dimensions.

This doesn't change the square inch smoke space by much, unless the baffle is already short and not reaching the lower top plate. The smoke space, or square inch area the exhaust flows through is the most important.
