Slow grower

This is the first round off the 'stump', if you want to call it that. I sliced a cookie off with a miter saw to show the growth rings better. It was collateral damage from an oak that fell a few inches off my mark . I'll sit down with a magnifying glass some day and count them.

I counted roughly 50. That's a lotta rings for such a small round.

I've cut some Ironwood (Hophornbeam) not over 5" diameter & that stuff had 60-75 rings.Sure its an understory tree normally,but those much bigger Oaks & Hickories dont give it much sunlight for growth.
