Smoke from Chimney?

It is 7 degrees, my air is all the way down, I have tons of flames (presumably mostly secondaries) and a pile of smoke from my chimney---the last few days same conditions but warmer no smoke. Can the be because of the cold temp outside?

Stove to cap is about 17 feet. Single wall. Would appreciate thoughts on this.

You certain it is smoke and not condensation you are seeing?

If it smells acrid, is very dark, and leaves a smoke haze in the distance, it's smoke. If it just disappears in short order with no off odor, is light in color, then you are seeing the moisture in the exhaust gasses condensing in the cold air.

Once it gets cold enough (below 15 or so) a car's exhaust pipe will often continue to show the same condensation in the air even with the engine fully warmed up.

If its not condensation check you baffel, sometimes it gets knocked out of place.
