It never fails to give me goose bumps.

For those that aren't familiar with it, here are the lyrics.

"All my life's a circle;
Sunrise and sundown;
Moon rolls thru the nighttime;
Till the daybreak comes around.

All my life's a circle;
But I can't tell you why;
Season's spinning round again;
The years keep rollin' by.

It seems like I've been here before;
I can't remember when;
But I have this funny feeling;
That we'll all be together again.

No straight lines make up my life;
And all my roads have bends;
There's no clear-cut beginnings;
And so far no dead-ends.

Chorus:

I found you a thousand times;
I guess you done the same;
But then we lose each other;
It's like a children's game;

As I find you here again;
A thought runs through my mind;
Our love is like a circle;
Let's go 'round one more time.

Chorus

No question: (As a bit of background: The singer lost both his wife and his brother within three days about four years before the release of this album.)

The lyrics:
The way
I can't see anymore, I put no trust in my eyes anymore,
can hardly believe anymore - feelings have turned around.
I'm much too lazy to give up.
Would be too early anyway, because something always works out.

We were conspired, would have died for each other,
bowed the rain, lent each other trust.
We tried to reverse, full speed down hill.
Nothing was too late, but a lot too early.

We pushed each other through all the tides,
we frittered, loved each other desperately.
We lied about the truth as good as possible.
It was a piece of heaven that you were there.

CHORUS
You flooded every room with sunshine,
converted every displeasure into its opposite.
Nordic noble - your gentle kindness,
your irrepressible proudness... Life is not fair.

Danced the movie in a silver room,
admired infinity from the golden balcony.
Hopelessly sunk, drunk and everything was permitted.
Together in time lapse. Midsummernight's dream.

CHORUS
You flooded every room with sunshine,
converted every displeasure into its opposite.
Nordic noble - your gentle kindness,
your irrepressible proudness... Life is not fair.

Your confident pace, your true poems,
your bright dignity, your unshakable aptitude.
You made head against destiny.
Never revealed your idea of happiness,
your idea of happiness.

I don't go away, I extended my term.
New time travel, open world.
I have you safely in my soul.
I'll carry you with me until the curtain falls.
I'll carry you with me until the curtain falls.

This is a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover by Shinedown that I always sing to my son. He makes a face like he'd rather be anywhere but here, but when it comes on the radio he says "mom! it's our song!" We've seen them together in concert a couple of times. The last time we were in the front of a balcony but way in the back. The lights went out. When the lights came on Brent Smith (singer) and his guitarist were on a platform right in front of us. He introduced his Mom and Grandma who were there in the audience. Then he sang this song and waved and pointed to us. <dabs eyes> 'twas very special

Louis Armstrong - "What A Wonderful World"
I see trees of green, red roses, too,
I see them bloom, for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white,
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky,
Are also on the faces of people going by.
I see friends shaking hands, sayin', "How do you do?"
They're really sayin', "I love you."

I hear babies cryin'. I watch them grow.
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Love Mark ... Emmy Lou not so much. I heard a local band cover this song and went searching. Priceless.

Wow, lots of moving songs!

I think much of this depends on your "head space", that is...where you are (mentally, emotionally) when you listen. Many songs have the capacity to move you.

Bette Midler does a great job on Wing beneath my Wings....

A complete look at life and all it's trials can be had in three very short verses of Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand

Those who identify with the working person and the lost blue collar America may be moved by some Bruce poetry.

Classical music is often very moving - just that most of us (myself included) cannot slow down enough nor process what we are hearing to know how powerful it truly is. Only once have I listened to it and truly understood what it meant...you have to put your head into what the world was when it was written.

Back in the 70's when the music generally sucked, we got into Bob Marley. I saw him live a couple times and was very moved - when he sings "I shot the Sheriff", you hear the song for the first time...and understand why a Free Man had no choice but to shoot the guy.

Especially if you are seriously baked

Tom Morello hits it out of the park with his guitar.

And the entire Ghost of Tom Joad album is one of my favorites.
