Definitely time to get this chimney “crown“ replaced. I’m looking to go through Rockford because I see that other members have had a good experience with products and service there. I have a couple questions about how to go about it.
Should I be replacing the current crown or just getting the Rockford stainless chase and putting it on top of what’s currently there? I’m a little concerned of having debris fall down the chase and hitting the liner/wood insert.
Either way, I realize I’d have to remove the screen that that’s part of the current cap. Also, even though the clay liner is not currently being used, I’d like to preserve it. I’m guessing I may have to add an inch or so to that clay to give it some added height.
I welcome any thoughts on these questions or any other points that people have. Thank you.
