stiffening chimney 11' tall

its been really windy here lately and im gettin nervous about my chimney. its 11 feet above my roof on my porch , duratech stainless chimney , i got the support bracket at about 5 feet up , but there is still 6 feet of pipe unsupported above it and im afraid the wind is gonna take it down sometime , it wobbles a little when it really gusts , i called my fireplace store where i got the stove and they said its normal. what can i do to make it more rigid ? ad another bracket higher up ? or ....?

There is supposed to be a support bracket every 5ft above the roof edge. Definitely add a second brace at the 10 ft level.

This is from DuraVent's installation manual:

"If the chimney extends more than 5 feet above the roofline, an Extended Roof Bracket must be installed at every 5-foot increment
of chimney height above the roofline, leaving no more than 5 feet of chimney extending above the last pipe bracket."

I agree you need one more support for that tall of a chimney.

The above advice is right on the money, as usual those support brackets come in different lengths and are usually telescoping in nature to get the exact length you need. You are right to be concerned and looking into a remedy for this. Having a good wind and your chimney coming apart with a fire going would be disastrous.

Some Installers may try to talk you out of it, but stand your ground and have them do it- it's your family and your job to protect them.
