I bought this saw new in 1978, I couldn't even guess how much wood I've cut with it. Leaking oil, and short on power I decided to tear it down and over haul it. I found a case on ebay because I thought the original one was cracked, because of the bar oil leak, found it was a bad gasket when I split the old case. New cylinder and piston, sprocket, points, new bar and chain and man shew cuts like a new saw. Cant beat them old stihls

I'm am in the middle of doing the same thing with a 031av. We have an 041av also. Good old saws that just keep going and going.

Those are probably the best two saws ever made, followed by the O20 for a climbing saw.
