STILL BURNING

Anyone else still burning wood as of May 4th besides me! It has been getting down into the low 30's at night every night so I always ahve a nice fire going..In the am I thow another couple splits on and it takes right back off ...But, I am down to my last ring or two which means maybe through next week

Oh yes, I light one in the morning with inside temps of 62 (by furnace) and the wife runs the fire until inside temps hit mid 70s and then lets it die at about noon. I get home from work and relight when inside temp dips to 66 or so and get it up to mid 70s before bed. I bought a 1.5 cord load of douf fir early this week that is burning quite well and figure that any left overs will be great for next year.

We go through less wood each day now than we did in the winter but still consuming. Another few weeks I'd imagine.

I put a fire on most evenings,unless I want to listen to the oil boiler run.Most nights still running around or just above freezing, but no dry splits left;now burning scrounged pallets from work.

Yep, small fire just about each morning jus to take the chill off. An occasional eve to. By Mon supposed to be 70's to 80's. That'll put a stop to burnin at least for then.

Yep 3 pieces in the evening and it gets toasty warm, not too warm, 3 smaller pieces. I love this time of year, well April is nice too.

Still burning...Coal during early morning and "daylight hours" a (recycling bins' worth) at night of pallet wood to "build up" the system (FHW Boiler)...16-18 hours "away time" on coal (to keep the fire going)...throw some wood in around 8PM and it starts right up...going to keep it going right up to the 15th (shutdown date by local ordinance).

It was cool here over the weekend and I got to test fire my new Mt. Vernon AE insert. It really took the chill off and cycled on and off with the T-stat. Had a few cold ones enjoying the warmth and waiting for the race to come on. Can't wait for fall! :coolsmile: Quick

I cleaned the quad, pipe, cap, closed it down for the season on saturday. Boom sunday night it went down to 35 degrees, it was rough listening to the furnace kick on. i held strong and didnt fire it up, guess i'll wait to fall.

People are still burning here wood and pellets
it gets down to the low/mid therties at night.
Im selling about a ton of pellets a week one and two bags at a time.

I love where i live, the landscape is breathtaking, and i like to snow shoe! LOL. I burn from late august to late may. Two years ago, before my first daughter was born, we had a 4th of July party and it dumped snow all day. It can snow pretty much anytime of the year, i havent seen snow in august yet. The big difference between winter and spring here is that the sun is out more, and the air temp is nice. Its the nightime temps that keep things frozen. At 9000' the morning time temps this time a year is low 20's and the day time temps are in the high 40's to high 50's. Summer ( july and august) mornings are 40's and daytime temps are 60's and 70's. you also have to factor in that there is zero humidity up here so 30* is t shirt weather.

i love colorado. Im from the gulf coast and the weather is sure a lot better here. I cant play golf year round, i cant drink 40 beers on the beach, and i need heat. Here at least i dont need AC, i can hike instead of drink.. the only thing i miss is the water! Also people dont know how to cook in colorado. Can you say Tofu?

I hated Colorado...course, had I been there under diferent circumstances (College with camoflouge...the military)... J/K MSG!

I gotta admit...I do like the State of Colorado now that I'm in the civilian world...when I go back from time to time...even though "I'm a tourist"...It "feels like home".

Colorado is like two states in one. The eastern part/front range are one part...the mountains are another.

Nothing like "trekking out into the back country" waking up in the crisp cool mountain air...

Like you MSG...I definately prefer the mountains.

im sitting hear waiting for the temp to get in the 40's so i can take my baby in her backpack on this back trail into rocky mountain national park that i dont have to drive to get to, thats pretty hard to beat, but we defintaly pay for it in the winter.
