Stove pipe question

I will be installing a LOPI model lx into my masonary fireplace. The chimney has not been checked out, so should i run the stove pipe the entire length of the chimney, or would it be okay to stop at a certain point

The stove will draft much better if you run it all the way to the top. And install a block off plate below the chiminey damper with some high temp insulation on top of it to keep the heat in your house and not heating masonry and the outdoors
