Stove Tax Credit Extended for 2017

Early this morning, the stove tax credit (25C) was extended, BUT it was only extended for purchases made in 2017, not 2018.

Thank you to the hundreds of HPBA members who sent an email to their legislators this week.
  • The $300 dollar-for-dollar credit is only good for a stove that's at least 75 percent efficient and purchased and installed before December 31, 2017.
  • Consumers should consult a tax professional about how to claim the credit if they made a qualifying purchase in 2017.
  • Our fight continues in extending the credit for stoves purchased in 2018 and in the future.
  • For more information, see HPBA's website.

Kind of a lame move. The intent of the rebate was to incentivise stove updating. This is strictly retroactive and does not have funding for 2018 forward. We need to advocate for extending the credit.
