I'm a bit confused with all the Cat temp, stove top temp threads. Can someone clarify for me?

My stove has a CAT probe. Will it's temp be different from the stove top? Say, with a gauge sitting some where else on the stove, then right on top of the CAT?

Thanks! Stay warm.

Your picture is of the catalytic probe, you will see temps of upwards of 1500 degrees when the cat is running on high.

Since you have a cat prob you need to use it to go by running your stove, at around 500-600 you close the damper and go into cat mode, start cutting the air back slowly and your cat should idle at around 1300-1500 at peak burn then drift back down for you to repeat the process again at reload.

Woodstock has a good write up on operating a cat stove, most of it will still apply to your stove: (broken link removed to http://www.woodstove.com/images/editorial_support/PDFs/fvcatalyticman.pdf)
