I have only lit my stove two times so far this year! normally i burn almost every day at the the start of December.I usually only burn from late day till the last load goes in by midnight. But due to the very mild start burning isn't happening! I burn when temps drop to at least 30F.Looks like a weather pattern change will start pretty soon and effect many of the US states in 10 to 14 days from now.By Christmas time temp 30s highs and lows teens and 20s.Winter is coming!! to be sure.

We've only had a few weeks of fires in November. It's 57º outside right now. Warm temps will be with us all week. This is a very strong el Nino.

Not very cold here either. High temps will be in the 50's and 60's this week. Next week will be cooler. I'm just burning once in a while to take the chill off the basement.

I've heard that El Nino has yet to peak and that 10-14 days timeline you are quoting is the earliest we can expect the pattern for change.

We have a similar thread going on over in the "wood shed", same thing, woodpile just sitting there saying "come on, let's go!!!" but not much action. Very strange indeed, especially after getting pounded the last couple of years......

The good news is that in addition to the softwood we have about a cord of hardwood in the shed and 3 cords currently drying outdoors. If we flip into a cold cycle in 2016/2017 we are ready.

El Nino is nothing more than a regular warming of the oceans every so many years or so.It effects weather patterns to a degree!! but weather patterns still change! el nino or not.The Media over does such news! There will still be a winter! Maybe not as severe as some others but it will still come.

You all know it's not even winter yet, right? :)

It's warmer than "usual" but no means abnormal. Keep an eye out for +2 weeks for things to start to change.
