Sugar maple running in Ont. already????

I trimmed a 2" branch on a sugar maple tree last week and the sap starting dripping out instantly. The next day, I saw a newspaper article about sap running already. WOW.
I noticed the buds on a Horse chestnut were green already. End of Jan. and it feels like Spring.
There is still lots of cold weather ahead. We may have some real problems with buds coming out too early with a forecast of 50 this week.

The horses are shedding, usually doesn't start until the end of March.

A guy I work with has started boiling sap here in southern Maine.

Runs are starting in PA as well. Groundhog is going to be right this year!

Putting our new tubing line up this weekend.......built a new barrel arch with a 2' sq divided flat pan....can't wait
