Suggestions on outdoor wood burning fireplaces

I am building an outdoor fireplace with a pergola. Does anybody have any suggestions on what outdoor fireplace to buy? Should I build a masonry fireplace or buy a prefab? I am definitely going with wood burning.

Perfectly good, yes, but punky, odds, other less desirable wood, yes.

I think you are all mistaken! It's very therapeutic! And it's a multi million dollar business..

Almost every new house that goes in gets at least 1 new fireplace, this is a very logical topic. I hope the OP wasn't turned away by this.

I burn pine hemlock poplaror other stuff With low btus or that is big and ugly and wont fit in the stove well. I really don't have a problem with either indoor or out door fire places but i do think they for the most part are a waste of fire wood. But if people enjoy them good for them.

My outdoor fireplace is made of concrete blocks and It is $15,000.00 cheaper than a lot of things.
$15,500.00 things.

I have pine, cedar and enough yard scraps to keep me going for quite a while......
Burning outdoors any time of the year gives off an awesome feeling......

Not singling you out, but by this logic, all the stumps, rounds, logs I see in the woods as I drive are being wasted too.

No because they will decompose and go back into the ground as nutrients for future trees and plants
