Anyone have any experience with Superior's WCT6940 fireplace? What is the difference between a high efficiency fireplace and a stove (insert or free standing)? Is it more about how it is mounted/installed? I briefly saw some posts about the new 2020 EPA standards - I looked at the database and this stove is 2020 certified - correct?
I posted a thread a little while back explaining that our house burned down in April. We are meeting with the builder tomorrow to finalize the plans for our new house, and I think that this fireplace will work for us but I haven't had much time to research it since we are trying to figure out every little detail on an entire house. I am not sure I want a catalytic fireplace but I haven't looked at it much. It has been overwhelming to go from content in our old house to planning a new house in a few short weeks so any help everyone can offer would be appreciated. Our last stove was a wood insert (Quadra-Fire 4100i).
With the new house, we are going to put a vent from the fireplace into the finished basement which will be nice over what we had before. Does this model blow air directly out of it or do we need a separate vent for the main room too? The manual shows an optional HeatFlo Air kit that I thought was just for ducting to a different room but it looks like we need that for the main room too?
Should I consider any other options? It has to be a wood fireplace similar to this with venting options and an arched door. We cannot do an insert and a freestanding stove is not going to work with what we are doing.
My head hurts looking at every single piece that goes into a house. My wife thinks this is fun, but I just have a headache!
