I have mine setup at my exhaust and my max alarm is 600, but I have a cat stove so it tends to run a bit cooler than tube stoves. I set the max at 600 to let me know to close the damper if I forget to engage the cat.

I want it more for high alarm than anything. Same idea, leave draft open. Got kids now so it seems easy to get distracted while your firing up. Had over fire a few times. Wife is home on mat leave so it will be good that we both can get the hi alarms no mater where we are
The built in alarm on the Auber AT100 is loud enough to be heard throughout the house with the stove being downstairs, not felt the need to upgrade that.
