Hey all,
Its supposed to go down in the 30s tonight but the wind is whipping like crazy. Its bitter sweet for me, Im glad to be using the stove, but Im also concerned about the frost warning since the boy is all excited about his garden. The tomaters and lettuce may be affected. Hopefully not. Thats spring in NY for ya. Stay warm amigos.

same here, fired up the 602 to take the chill off

Yep, we just got home and it was only 62 in the house, so the insert is on!
At low burn settings, the Hampton goes a long time.

Yep. My 30 has just made it up to temp and is lazing along munching on a load of pine. Got a freeze warning ourselves for tonight. I am ready to put that bad boy to bed for the season.

Same here, fired up the Republic about an hour ago.

Yea the 30 is running at 550 degrees now. She is chomping on some ash now.

My little Hampton is cruising at about 550. It is perfect this time of the year. The ole buck is a little jealous. >>

Still lumbering along on last night's load. Opened it up a little bit so I can load it in the morning before I leave for work. Still amazes me. I might just burn it all summer.

You BK guys ought to have your own forum ;lol

I think I best get mine going. I loaded it this morning about 6 and it was pretty nice here today. The house was hangin at about 75 most of the evening. It is down to 74 now but it is get nippy outside and frost expected 30 tonight and 44 tomorrow.

Just got home... the PE is getting up to temp, and the 13 is getting ready to cruise.

30ish here tonight according to the local weather authorities, probably lower here in Icey Hollow.

And the Lilacs are just about ready to burst (broken image removed)

Supposed to drop down to 28 here tonight so the liberty is rockin away on a full load at 730 degrees with the fan on low. Going to bed now so hopefully I will wake up to a 80 degree house in the morning.

:) My MIL is staying with us right now to help my wife out with the new baby and I just opened the door on the stove to stir up some coals. She says "Oh my! That is still from yesterday?" I said yeah if I would've filled it up with good wood it would've made it 30 plus hours but I used junk wood and didn't fill the stove so 24 hours is about it. Yep still amazed after a full winter.

Just my luck. Happens at least three times a year. The freeze warning is now changed to a low of 40. A quick light and go out would have handled it fine. But they changed it after the half load of oak had settled in for the night. Oh well, I can suffer through sleeping under a sheet at 75 or so upstairs..

just chucked some white oak and even a chunk of honey locust for the overnight. No huge crankin fires, just some chiller killers for the next several nights. I must admit, I will be missing the fire in the woodstove all summer long. Almost makes me excited for next fall (I said ALMOST)!:p

Summertime is a nice break from stove life, it gives you something to look forward to in the fall. If my wife had it her way it would be Xmas again next Thursday.

No frost last night........house was 73 this morning. Looks pretty gray out there, rain moving in. A few chunks of cherry added should be good until tonight.

I'm getting a bit tired of these temperatures in the 20's. Hopefully tonight will be the last of them. 27 is forecast but a warm-up is expected next week.

Amazing how far ahead your growing season is to ours. Our dafodils have been up nice for a little while, the rhubarb is up, and tulips are budding...but lilacs have just barely started to bud.
Fired up the T6 yesterday, house was just too cold with only the pellet stove. Low of minus 4 degrees C last night, but only supposed to go down just below freezing toinght. I knew we were being spoiled but that heat wave in March.

The lilacs are very early, we usually don't see them 'til mid/late May. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

We had a bit of a frost lat night. No damage done. I laid some stray hay on top of of the vegies today we are expecting the temps to go low again tonight. Stove is cranking again tonight. I guess thats just the way its going to be.

Only 48 here... the heat pump is actually keeping me awake.

Refired the Republic a few hours ago, it's cruising on ecobricks, it's in the 30's here. Already had them in and didn't feel like hauling any wood in, spent the day planting bare root stock (except for a trip to get a new-to-me mixer, a 60's era 4c Kitchenaid) and my arm hurts (found out it's "tennis elbow"). Blah. Imma take some Advil and hit the hay since the stove seems settled in. The dog's already snoring away on the couch, lol.

Fired up the PE for projected lows of 36F this evening (according to the weather this morning) at 9 PM... seems the forecast has changed to 50F tonight, but rain coming in.

I am consoling myself by the fact that I am now burning to keep out dampness from the incoming rain tonight (I hate wasting firewood)
