My daughter wants to install a wood stove in her house in Maine. Needs to heat about 1500 square feet. 2 story house, 750 square feet per floor. She has an endless supply of oak and birch. The flue in the chimney is 6” round. Will need to be inspected by the fire department per the insurance company so has to be UL approved.
What’s your opinions as to the best wood stove out there for her needs?
Thanks,
Frank

There is no such thing as best stove, only the best stove for one's particular needs and budget.

How well insulated is the home? How tall are the ceilings. Where is the stove located? Is the floor plan open or are the rooms closed off with doorways?

Lots of stoves will work. Does she have a budget? A particular aesthetic look? Does she only want to burn it part time or full time?

I had an enviro kodiak 1700 for years and I only heat with wood.enviro quit making stoves because of epa.it was an awesome well built unit sold it and just installed a osburn 2300.i cant comment on the osburn yet.my friend heats 1300 sq foot home with a regency 3100.that is one worth looking at imo

We have an awesome wood stove from MF Fire - Nova. Check out my thread on it from the past. It is likely a perfect sized stove for your daughter's space. Main benefits: super simple, beautiful flames through our glass which almost never gets dirty, overnight coals. Let me know if you have any questions bout it
