Thermometer placement on Keystone stove ??

so where is the correct/or best place to have the thermomter on top of stove - is it on the side panels on the top or rihgt in front of the pipe - mine is vented out the top

I also have one on the pipe about halfway up

I sit mine right on top of the cat on the middle stone.
