This a bad creosote pipe?

I think im on 6 weeks since i checked my setup and cleaned it. Pulled the DW pipe out and it looked like this.

Seems like i get more shiny stuff build up right where the chimney adaptor connects to the class A. The chimney has a very small amount of dark brown/black dust and better looking then above so I didn't take a pic of it.

What is your moisture content of your wood? Did you cut your wood or buy it? I see you have splitter and chainsaw. How long have you seasoned your wood? It doesn't look too bad , clean it and burn smaller hotter fires and check it in 6 weeks to compare.

It is pretty clear there is a big change in flue temperature from the pipe to the class A. The flaky brown stuff looks ok, the black shiny stuff not so much.

Here is a photo of my single wall liner (all grey flaky) until it reaches the chimney cap which was completely black and coated.

I only have oak from hurricain sandy left! I split kinda small like 2x3 and stack in single rows so its moisture is down to 20% some read more some read lower. My cap has the flakey black stuff too. Im sure i did have a few low burners while we were out which prolly dont do it any good! Ill just keep cleaning it and hopefully i can find the room to season the oak im picking up for more then a year

Get a container of Rutland creasote remover. I put a scoop of that in with every overnight burn. It turns everything flaky and it falls. Just make sure it doesn't block the elbows.

I have probably twice what you have after only 4 weeks, so i clean every 4 weeks. Mines all the dry powdery stuff throughout. Your black shiny stuff would concern me a little more. Clean every 6 weeks i'd think you'd be fine.

Wow. What kind of chimney do you have? interior/exterior/insulated ect? And do you know the moisture content of your wood? That is quite a bit of creosote! And what stove?

vogelzang wood furnace, 25 ft interior uninsulated liner inside a chimney. Woods MC is about16 to 20.
Shes a dirty wood whore.

Last month i just cleaned the black pipe so its been 2 months since i cleaned the class A! Nothing much in the black pipe this time, and heres the class A after 2 months on one year oak most @ 20%

Hello,
I am curious about the Rutland comment. I have a progress hybrid. I have an external chimney, uninsulated. I think I am burning pretty good. My wood is at least two years old and top covered.I do have the Rutland chimney cleaner. I ought it last year when my wood was not as dry as this year. What I read was use it for an overnight burn. Will this hurt my cat? I don't want to cause any issues by using this as I have had enough without using it. I appreciate any input.
