This wood is heavy!!

Did a little moving around of my recent CL delivery yesterday. I was starting to make a dent when my trailer decided it was done At least my custom rails didn't break! Looks like i'm gonna have to do some strengthening on my hitch.



It's a good thing I'm picking up my dads old John Deere tractor and trailer today!

Yea the key word there is 'dry'. This stuff is as green as growing! Slippery stuff too!

When wood is cut in the spring, getting it split soon
is important so it can start to dry.
(maple & birch especially) Very wet inside & starts to mold fast.

For sure with a dump trailer you must load heavy in the front and very light in the rear. You can beef that tongue up pretty easy though.

I should have in all split in the next couple weeks. A little at a time.

That's almost exactly how I broke mine, a similar model $50 yardsale rustbucket. The bolts holding the box on popped also . Re-bolted, jumped up and down on / sledged the tongue roughly back in place and reinforced it with a chunk of PT lumber. Then I resumed abusing it.

Might be time for a "C" channel upgrade on that main frame tube. Or, you could get a stick of heavy guage 2" square tube at your local metal shop and have it heated and bent to the contour you need.....

Yep, lesson learned there. It'll be good as new soon as soon as I get that hitch fixed. Heck it will probably be better than new!
