Too Purty to Light!

3 months, later it's finally reality.

I figured out a solution for the Oak, and fabbed my own bracket for the quadra Fire 4100i to tie to a 90° air intake down the chimney.

Had a bit of a snag when the old fireplace came out, the sweep says, you have 13" x 13" flue at the top, that throttles down to a 10" pipe. That made stuffing a 6" flex exhaust, and a 3" flex intake a bit of a challenge but we got it done.

Now I can't stand the thought of dirtying it up seeing's how it's 54° outside.

That being said, weather headed South for Sat-Sun, 39 and snow here sunday.

Oh yeah, that's why I bought this.

bought that same stove 3 years ago. let me know how the oak performs. Happy burning when the time comes. You may as well do some break in fires.

Ooh a QF 4100i...not too many seem to be around here.
I'm glad you didn't get the cast iron trimmed surround. So heavy to remove single handed.
How tall is the chimney?

Chimney is about 26 feet

Blower on this is substantially noisier than my old buck

Wife thinks somethings wrong with the blower. I need to find another stove to see if they all sound the same.
Are the 3000, 4000 and 5000 all the same blower in them?

Might have to drop by the fireplace store and run one with a blower installed.

It's got that electrical whine going on.

I'd post a video, if the forum let's me, or put it on dropbox with a link if that's permitted.

Held coals till 5:30, and it's a balmy 15 outside. Did take almost an hour to get up to steam, and the blower to kick on, after I opened it up and put on some more wood.

And thanks to the mods for fixing my photos.

I looked at it a little more closely. Looks like that front cover for the blower comes off with 2 screws.

Thought I'd try some Tri-Flow on the bearings to see if it quiets it down some. Furnace was made 2/2011, so it's been in a box for quite a while.

Anybody had that blower out to fiddle with it? It appears to be shaped like a 2" squirrelcage, like your furnace blower only 2" across it, and about a foot long.

I put in a Quadrafire 5100 last year and have been pretty happy with it. Our blower can get pretty loud as well as times. I had to take ours off and shim it a couple of places where some of the metal pieces were barely touching. It would chatter from time to time.
