Hi! Our house had an addition and the chimney is on the inside of the house. We are looking to mount the TV to the backside of the chimney to get it up and away from our 12 month old son. Is there any issue mounting (drilling) into the back of the chimney? Will this affect the ability to use our fireplace (does drilling into the back of the chimney make the use of the fireplace unsafe?)?

Many thanks,
CPM

Greetings. There is no harm to the chimney, but keep in mind that the enemy of electronics is heat. The chimney brick will get warm behind the tv.

Thanks, begreen! Is this a big concern? Are you saying the chimney will get warm from the heat generated by the TV or if/when we are using the fireplace? If fireplace, the fireplace is in the adjacent room (the TV would be mounted on the back side of the chimney.

A fire in the fireplace will heat up the brick.
