Huntindog1- I will try some of the tihings you mentioned, I have a damper but have not used it much yet, I am getting to the point where I am going to try different things, thanks for the suggestions.
 
+1 on the in-line damper. You are just about to
the point where one is almost mandatory.
Generally speaking, we recommended installing
one on a wood stove with a chimney over 22' high...
 
Dasky-That's good to know, I will start using it a little more to see how it works, there are getting a few more posts for people who are using the damper and happy with the results, I am sure the EPA thinks we should not use them so we dont burn dirty, just my guess.
 
Can't hurt to try it.
