Question:

Please explain the differences between Gas, Propane, Liquid Propane and Liquefied Petroleum Gas. We are looking at getting a Sterling Direct Vent heater. Can it be converted to any of these types of fuel? Is it cheaper for me to sign up with a propane provider, or bring 20 pound bottle of LPG from the hardware store and plug them into my heater.

Answer:

Propane, Liquid Propane and Liquefied Petroleum Gas are all common names for the same thing..that is, bottled gas. Most Hearthstones come set up for use with Natural gas, however they do include or have available for purchase a field conversion kit to change to LPG or Propane. It is designed to run off of a larger tank than a 20 Lb, so sign up with a gas provider...it will also cost much less for the fuel.
