Like many others have said about 30 minutes after loading to back it off.

With that said. I'd rather it burn down while my family wasn't there! Just check to make sure you're insured for what your house and it's contents are worth, even if you don't burn wood!!! A lot of people do not update homeowners insurance policies often enough to keep up with the increasing value. That would be a real disaster, or what us wood burners would call a secondary burn!
