My neighbor has a 4 year old Englander 30 for sale-make an offer. What should I look for to know the condition of the stove? How much is it worth? He is switching to coal and wants it gone. I know nothing about this stove.

RIght now they are 900 here, but they have been had on sale for 700 or a little less. Give him 400 and take it home. >>

I like my NC30. It's tough. The weakness I found is that you can melt the air wash plate right inside the door on top. It's only like 1/8" thick sheet metal and will sag in the middle. Everything else seems tough as nails.

We settled on $300.....he said it will need a new baffle board (what ever that is) in a year or so.

Are parts readily available for these stoves??

Yep - you will have no problems sourcing a baffle. You got a nice unit for skinny bucks. Been looking for that deal myself (shop stove).

You got a deal, if it's in good shape !!

$300 is an absolute steal.

Here's the kind of used models I see around here.....

Next summer catch Englander's "Early Bird Special" that includes two baffle boards and a set of gaskets for less than the boards usually sell for plus shipping is included. ESW has brutal shipping charges for parts and the boards themselves are normally $120 plus shipping.

It is $119. This year.

From that ad: "I don't like wood stoves..."

Obviously.
