Used Harmon P 68. What is a fair price.

I am in the market for a second Harmon P68 stove to operate in my hardware store. I have found a used 2004 model. I have not looked at it yet to see that it works as it should. They bought it last year used from a Harmon dealer. She is asking $3500 for it. I called her and asked her how she came up with that number and said from her dealer. I told her I can buy a brand new one list at $3499 plus a hundred dollar rebate and an additional 10% off as it will be operating in my store with my Harmon dealers name on it. So if this used stove is good what is a fair Price? My dealer said $1000 to $1200. She told me that her dealer would give her $ 2000 and buy it back before she moves.

I"m no dealer, but for a 9 year old stove, I would be looking at around $1000 like your dealer said. Otherwise I would buy new for the price her dealer suggested and not from him either. I am guessing that if he is gonna give her $2000, he must have customers willing to pay $3500 for a nine year old used stove. I don't think that is good business practice on his part though.

I just paid a little under $4,000 for a brand new P68 and that was with all the trim/tile/log set and piping. It did not include install, he wanted another $450 for the install. Looking back maybe should have paid the $450 it as I am chasing a small smoke leak.

I just bought a 2007 P68 that was only burned for 2 seasons for $2200...that included venting, full nickel trim, decorative tile, and 35 bags of pellets. I think $1500-2000 would be a fair price for a 2004, depending on the condition.

I would not touch a Harmon, if it were a Harman I would give her 1,200-1,500

BTW, if it's a Harman, why is she selling it?

She is moving and does not need it. I told her when she gets ready to sell it back to the dealer to give me a call. I will then look at it if it is not banged up and works good I will offer her a grand for it. Then we will know if the dealer was really offering $ 2000 for it. Thanks for the information.
Also sorry for my miss spelling of the good Harman name. Did you ever wonder why there are more lurkers on forums then people posting good information? Because every forum on the net has to have a self appointed English and grammar teacher to point out all the peoples life long little flaws.

I also agree that's a joke of an asking price. $1500 tops IMO.
