The EGT probe is after the exhaust fan in the aluminum adapter. The room air temp is another thermocouple that I drilled a small hole in the side of the room air flow. It’s under the side panel of the stove so you can’t see it. See arrow- it’s pointing a little low but it’s in that air stream

1.5 is lowest I have seen, I just use the factory rates 2.0/5.0. At one time I was servicing 15 6039/6041 so I have seen many settings.
I replaced the door seal yesterday.. now I just need so colder weather to justify turning it on. I think I had a slight leak around the top of the door so it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference. Also in all of my reading on here I ran across a post that I can’t find again. Someone with this same style of stove said they had sealed around where the burn pot sits and even the larger side holes where the agitator goes through it? How did they go about sealing those air gaps up?

Steel wool most of the time.
Are the holes behind your backer board sealed, most plug those holes with 1 1/2 plugs for electrical box. Plugging them stops some heat from escaping out of the firebox into the exhaust path. Picture is my 6039 but you should have holes in B location on each side of your chute. Good thing about the plugs is they are easily removed so you can brush between the walls weekly.

I did plug both of those holes up. Do you think sealing everything up is worth steel wool is worth it?

No but some state it helps direct the air flow more through the pot. I think the engineers got it right when they built the 6041 runs good straight from the factory. It is a solid noisy heat throwing machine.
Is it normal for the inside of the hopper to get pretty hot? I mean I expect it to get warm being so close to the heat. I can hold my hand on it for a few seconds.
