Hello all,

I’m using black pipe to feed propane to an outdoor fireplace. I’d like to put a cutoff valve near the fireplace.

I bought a ball-valve at Lowe’s that indicated that it was for gas, but when I looked up the specifications on it said it was rated for natural gas.

Can I use in natural gas cut off valve with propane?

Thanks,
John

We always stocked one valve type used for both LP and natural. They are both hydrocarbon based gasses, with similar properties.

Thanks Sawset!!

I ran into a plumber friend of mine on the golf course yesterday. He told me that I was probably OK. And then I asked him if that meant my house probably wasn’t going to blow up and he just grinned.
