I don't like the sight of wind farms.

I don't like anyone trying to change my opinions. I have not developed said opinions lightly not without cost.....and I do not accept what is forced down onto us to accept as gospel.

It sure wouldn't be the first time our "leaders" just outright lied to us to advance their personal agendas.

OK, I'll try it this way.

At the time, everyone thought it was a great idea to put infected people in nursing homes where there was no infection. As soon as this was announced, I said "Can't any one see what is going to happen?" Unfortunately, the worst did happen and my views didn't change a danged thing. But different states fell in line (party line as we all know) the practice and it happened even more. Then, the results were buried. This is what they (we) were told was good and best case for all and forced upon us.

Right now, along with all the other BS affecting us, we are told to believe in what ever they perceive is the only answer. I think it's great that you fall in line with their beliefs while they choose not to adhere to the standards they put forth.

So, while they continue not to practice what they preach, they continue to get fatter and richer.

We've been lied to before, and will continue to be lied to.

That is incorrect. It was certainly not the case here, and this is where the outbreak started. Considering that some of the early rapid spreads first showed up in nursing homes, many were trying to rapidly get their parents or loved ones out if possible.

Knowing how plastics deteriorate in the environment (even without UV), I'd be hesitant putting it under a road or something. The process linked to is a good one as it gets us some resources out of them rather than have them slowly deteriorate spread around the country in re-use scenarios.

Grinding them up for use in road paving wouldn't be a good idea?

I think that the glass fiber reinforced concrete has proven successful.

But the blades have a lot of epoxy = plastic. And given that most fish we catch already has microplastic in their body, I prefer not to add to that - which will inevitably happen when we grind blades and spread them all over the country. Either it'll leach out of the pavement or when that gets ground up to be renewed it'll be in there and fly out.

Hopefully, at some point in your life, you will learn that not everyone has the same views/opinions as you. And learn to accept that fact. But, most importantly learn to deal with it differently than what has been exhibited so far.

I would think glass fibers in the roads or any travelled surface is probably a bad idea, but maybe no worse than ordinary concrete/cement/lime dust that can cause silicosis? Could also give paved surfaces more albedo, which is generally a good thing.

All I can say Yooper is that I am left wondering where you are getting all this amazing wisdom of yours about the climate and public health? Since you say that the 'news' is all lies, where could it be from? It would be great if you would include some links to your sources, so that we could read them ourselves and judge their veracity.

That would be the way to convince us.

I tend to go to peer-reviewed science papers on those subjects, and I have to say, everything you have spouted in this thread is contrary to those sources I have read.

Just sayin.

That is not to say that I don't believe there are a lot of lies out there and corrupt fat cats and politicians (of both parties) that are getting wealthy on those lies. And that those lies are literally killing millions of people every year.

Its just we don't agree on what the lies are and who is doing the lying, and what is causing the dying. Quite a conundrum!

Also, I'm 55, have been following the science since the 80s, and it has been quite consistent. I also reserve the right to get a pedicure if I want.

Yeah, we have to sift through the propaganda daily in our lives. Take a look at so called news journalists now-a-days for example. About as accurate and believable as weather forecasts.

What is the reason why I get so much argument on this thread? I have mentioned earlier in this thread that there is a huge difference of opinion. Accept that. I don't expect to change the views of others and don't care to. But it works both ways, right?

Main stream media at least have to adhere to certain standards re sources and truth, and tend to label their 'advertisements and commercials' as separate from their 'news' content. Note however, that their main 'news' content seldom gets cross-wise of their advertisers. They are not _required_ to report a story if they don't want, for any reason (like losing their ad $$$). Do you have a lucrative industry that is killing a lot of people? Just spend lots of money advertising it (with compelling ads), and the truth can take a very long time to get out.

This is why it was the ad bans on cigarettes that ultimately reduced smoking (saving millions of lives, at least in my view), not the Surgeon General's report.

Heard a stat this week that spending on 'social media' advertising now exceeds advertising spending on all non-internet media combined (print + TV + Cable). So that means that we are now getting our mind control through zillions of paid internet influencers who as far as I know are subject to no regulations whatsoever, and whose 'factual' content and 'paid' content are hopelessly blurred together to boot. Served to us by a very good AI that is just trying to maximize what we click on.

What could go wrong?

It's clear that wind power is not some folk's cup of tea. That has been discussed a lot in other threads. There is no perfect solution for powering the machine that drives the economy. Even hydro has its negative aspects. This thread is about addressing one negative of wind power. It's a positive step in correcting the issue of waste at the end of the life of the blades.

The Inglenook was created afterward to allow civil discourse but nothing like the free-for-all that was the Ash Can. There are tons of other places on social media for open discussion on any topic but this is a place focused on helping others in a family-friendly way.

For the record, I have priced out both wind turbine and solar for my needs (residential) I am not opposed to them as an energy source.

It's just that seeing those danged wind farms is so offensive and no one around them petitioned for them to be placed where they were placed. I have never seen a large solar farm (so to speak) but can imagine the same result from the pics on the web.

I live here because of the ultra low population and serene undisturbed beauty of nature.

There are solar farms here (I have my own rooftop), and I hear nobody complain. Put some trees.around it and you can't see them. Either that or a sod farm...
