Alot of times the manufacture of the stove you are looking at does not give this information. I use this formula almost everyday and i find it invaluable.

C=Corner Clearance of stove
D= Depth of stove
W= Width of stove
X= Corner of wall to the front of stove.
Y=hearth extension in front of stove

X=C(1.141)+.5(W)+D

If you want to know how far the pad comes out you just add Y to the right side of the equation.

Not all stove manufactures give you the dimensions for this. Allot of times they give you single wall clearance measurements for this and not double wall or heat shied data, sometimes they give you zero data. . MORSO is a good example of not having any of this in there product literature.
