Will the vents work with the insert in place?

Some how, I don't think so.

Or, as I am redoing the front of this FP, and extending the floor protection, I can/could insulate the vents into the front of the FP(and if I did what kind? etc), and just recover the openings where the grates are now with new tile/brick/whatever?

It is my understanding that the insert install will include a plate to cover the heatlator vent inside the fireplace? I was thinking of attempting the install ourselves, but upon hearing this I am having mega "Danger, danger, warning, warning" robots going off around me :-P

1 story install, FP chimney is clear and straight up.

Have I forgotten anything?????
