We finally rented a splitter!

We finally rented a splitter! We've been scrounging for wood all summer and just letting it pile up since buying a splitter isn't currently in the budget (we just finished a major year-long remodel/addition which allowed us to put in a wood burning stove). So glad to finally get some wood split. And yes, I know that I can't burn it this year. I don't have much wood for this year so I'm glad that it's supposed a mild winter and that propane prices are low this year.
And since nothing happens without proof, I've attached some pictures. The last picture is the wood that is still left to split so it looks like we'll be renting the splitter again next weekend. Thankfully the place we found to rent it from is quite reasonable.

That's a nice pile you've got going there! Next year, maybe the splitter, and a two wheel wheelbarrow to move it around. I've given up on the standard single-wheel variety, now that I"ve experienced how much easier it is using the two-wheel variety.

We share a splitter with 3 others. Cheep way to get into a spitter and we don't feel the need to push to split 6 cords in a day like back in the renting days. Spitter is 6 years old and still going strong.

Wow - that's awesome, love seeing a whole family work together, some of my best memories are not from vacations, but when my mom, dad, sister and myself did a project together.

Yeah. It was a lot of fun! Working together helped keep everyone's mood up since we started out in the rain! Thankfully the rain quit about noon.
