Well' I'm ready for summer.

The wood shed has been on the back burner for a couple years but just got put on the highest priority list today.
My garage had wood enough to last till about April. Every one knows that come April the snow will have melted enough to go get some seasoned stuff that I covered last fall.
Good thing it melted some

If I run out I have another 2 cord row, over there, under the sled.

It isn't much better at work either. This was us about a week and a half ago.

well, you would be for alittle while but let me tell you it is simply a pain in the ass, unless that is your A. Retired B. A millionaire, other than that that much snow in any given year is a nuisence

Yes the train is stuck. We had a storm a day or two before and then the wind picked up. This was a ledge cut that accumulates snow in these conditions. It was cleaned with the understanding we were going by in the morning. Delays and miss communication had us there that night short on time in white out conditions. Zero visibility!
By the time we figured out what had happened we hoped there wouldn't be more than 2 to 3 feet in it. I told the conductor "hang on and watch this!!" and hauled it into the 8th notch. We didn't make it but not for lack of effort. There was more like 6 or 8 feet of snow. 1/2 mile walk through it to get to a crossing where we could be picked up. Yuck!! We had four trains stuck on different lines that week.
A buddy and I went on snowmobile to his dads camp in the woods to shovel the roof. He has pictures of us having to lift the snow up to get it off. The snow was quite good for riding that day and we rode some logging roads and took a couple of skidder trails through the woods. Well, he got stuck and has another picture of me tying a rope to his ski and the ski is eye level to me because the snow is so deep. This is a record year for us for snow.
It had better melt soon tho, I have a canoe trip planed in six weeks

I'm ready for Summer too. Mother Nature played a nast April Fools joke on us today. You could almost see the trees in my front yard yesterday. This is what is happening outside my door today.

Those pictures remind me of the good old days when I lived in Northern MI. I remember digging like that for my wood pile and shoveling my roof a couple times per winter. Don't miss it a bit. We had 4 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday. Looks like it may hit 50 here Thursday. I hope so, I have lots of wood to split and stack.

I think you got what we usually get. We didn't get didly this year !

I really like winter. When we get our usual 100" and temps. stay between -10 and +25 I would rather be here then on a beech. Cold, clear and calm nights are the best. This was a little much for me tho. If you get this every year then you get geared up for it. It even gave me the excuse to get the blower for the tractor I've been wanting!! :lol:

Also, we didn't get a lot of soft weather to knock it back during the winter so it just kept piling up.

It always amazes me how the local/regional differences (like weather/snowfall amounts/etc) vary around this great country of ours. Also amazing how few of us (myself included) really realize stuff going on in other places that don't make the front page (or even back for that matter) of the paper. That much snow ANYTIME, much less in late March, is so foreign to me, and quite frankly for most folks living in the lower 48 - I don't think many of them have a clue what y'all deal with.
