Ladies and gentlemen this what I found on the bottom of the fire box when I was taking ash out of the stove. It’s paper thin. Seems to be stainless steel. Any idea what it possible be? There were two of them.
I don’t recognize that part and have installed several of these stoves. I’ve never torn one down though. Is the cat intact? Not crumbling or otherwise failing? You’ve ran this stove for a while right? So if it had been there in the past you’d notice it. It must have fell from above somewhere.
Ok mystery solved. For a fun of it try to tell me what is. I will buy the winner a 24 pack of polish best beer.
Travis came out with so many different insert options a few years back it’s hard to keep them straight. I was thinking the cape cod was the hybrid version, just like the freestanding stove. Silly me...I have this stove for about 5-6 years so it’s not something was left in it. I went through the manual and I don’t see anything like it in the parts diagram. This is a cape cod insert so no cat. Once a year a take the baffle plate, yoke and bypass assembly apart to clean the flue and I never seen anything like it so maybe it was something in the wood? I do t thing my 7 year old would throw something in. I will have to ask her just in case.
