I made a deal with a nice neighbor

Our deal is
1) One face cord = a stack 4 feet X 8 feet X 16 inches +
2) Wood will be 97.8 percent bark-less
3) Dry wood - less than 20 percent MMC.
4) Species of wood = Black locust ( 75% or >) with the rest Black birch
5) I will deliver and stack the wood

The payment will go to our lake association . Just curious what would be a fair price for the firewood, delivered and stacked you think ?

Depends on where you live and how good of friends you are with this gentleman. $75 seems reasonable to me. It might not to him. But the only "work" he's doing is signing a check.

I would pay $250/cord now and $300 if I were behind on wood for what you describe. Since a facecord is less volume I say $100 is your number.

delivered, stacked, bark less, black locust for charity. Seasoned mix which really isn't seasoned not stacked is going for $350 t0 $400 if you can get it. Many people can't.

It is worth more than most people are willing to pay because all the firewood sellers advertise "seasoned" wood for less than what yours is worth. Thing is, yours is seasoned, and theirs is "seasoned", but most people will not know the difference. Good luck trying to explain the difference.

Im not fully understanding the charity part so I will put that aside.
100.00 to 120.00 per facecord for seasoned wood is a common selling price. Wood alone. Stacked along the road...you pick up.
Add delivery, most deliveries around here require a cord or 2 cord minimum. But thats dumped in a driveway and left.
Stacking is an unusual service. I have seen it offered on craigslist but it is associated with a warranty of delivered volume. IDK
Farm labor for stacking wood, about 10.00 an hr. But realistically you should charge what you get paid at your work.
Your time is whatever you are worth. 20.00 an hour for an average price, say.
120.00 wood
25.00 - 30.00 gas
20.00-40.00 stacking(cribbing extra)
Now what about the facecord wood rack?
~175.00 to 190.00

What is your organization using the wood for? If that is not too personal?
Locust is prime heating wood. Is this wood going to be raffled?
Will it be advertised as fully seasoned locust? or is it going to be used in an open fireplace for meetings? Where no one will know what it is?
I guess my question is, does it have to be part of your prime heating source?

275-300 delivered c/s/s per cord or 90-100 per face cord. At the least.

Les then primo wood around here that is advertised as seasoned and never locust goes for 75$ face cord not delivered. In winter time people were selling green wood 80-90$ per face cord and people didn't care if it was seasoned.

So your wood is worth quite a bit imo.

It is my choice to donate the payment for my wood to the Lake association. The wood will be burned in my neighbor's wood stove, he has a pretty small place so it should serve him well. Your idea of a raffle is a good one, if all goes well and I want to do this again I am think-in a silent raffle to help raise money for the lake.

All I can say is I think he is getting a great deal , as I am new to this wood selling occupation and may have opened my mouth a little to wide. But none the less I better keep my word and get this task done.

I donated a cord of actual seasoned wood to a silent raffle for a girl that I went to high school with (huge crush on her) that died. This raffle was for her kids. They got a whole $50 for it. I felt like screwing the bidder and giving $200 and keeping the wood. I donated the money and delivered the wood anyway, still a bad taste in the mouth.

Never realized that wood prices can be so high in different areas. In southeastern lower Michigan we can get a facecord delivered and stacked for about $55

This was really a fund raiser for the lake, on the other hand it's primo stuff and I would not have taken any less than $100 for it.
With any luck I will have a silent auction next year and make it a competition. It's all good.

Lawdy wood is expensive up north. In the upstate of SC I pay (if I buy for an elderly lady) 60 for a 4x8 buggy load thrown in about 3 of 4 foot deep
