Real good-looking scrounge piles there, BB. Gotta be careful though - the mass of all that in one place (your yard) could set the planet into a different orbit or at least cause it to wobble on its axis. Can solve that problem by getting it split and stacked because then the weight is better distributed than in rounds form. Your wife is correct.

Wife sez "No more wood till ya split what ya got ".....so my scrounging is on hold for a while.....unless the lady around the corner calls about some Oak she has in her front yard....too close to ignore

Got the call today....she sez I can I have what is on the lawn in front of the house....looks like a 50 foot Oak, all cut up and ready to load......it's up close to the house, not near the road....told her I'd be there tomorrow (Sunday) , then I'm done......unless I hear a chainsaw goin' in the nieghborhood....can't ignore those (Happy Dance)....still gotta rent a splitter.....or wait 3 weeks for one to be in the budget for a purchase......looking at an Ariens 25 ton (Home Depot)

It sounds like you a need a splitter soon, but if you can wait it out til the end of season it might pay off. I found an MTD 25 ton with Briggs and Stratton at Walmart of all places. End of season, I think it was March or April and it was the last one there. They sold it to me for 500 bucks out the door(tax included). They were fixing to move it to another store because it had sat there for so long.

So, I go over to pick up my final load of scrounge wood (Oak) as per the Wife......left behind 3 large, wide pieces, told the owner I'd be back next weekend with a splitter.....then I saw another 15 nice rounds off the driveway.....told her I'd split those too for her.....she said "if those are still here next week, you can have those also".....my Wife is gonna kill me if I bring home another stick.....she sez I have a sickness.....so, I stand before you, with my right hand raised...."Hi, my name is Rick, I am a wood-aholic".....here is a pic of what I got today.....3 P/U truck loads.

Beer belly, get a $30 maul and split some of that stuff by hand while you figure out what to do about a gas power splitter. You've accrued quite a bit of free wood there. Nice work. Splitting by hand is one of my favorite things to do. Just do an hour or so every couple of days. Its a great work out, and for us woodburners its good for the soul. Either way looks like you're doing a great job.

Mind sez "yes"....body sez "no".....got the maul, been splittin' a bit by hand....been having issues with knee, and elbow surgeries, so gotta go to the splitter......buying one in 3 weeks, just gotta rent one, one more time.....how the heck am I gonna hide 15 or so, more rounds

Sorry to hear you're hurting like that. Can you delay picking them up without losing them? What about sticking one or two rounds in each pile. Now I'm nit saying lie to your wife I'm just saying fudge the numbers a bit and hope she doesn't notice.

Sounds like you have some ammo to help with your wife. (although we know she really don't mind all that much)
I can't split wood now, maybe sometime you'll be like some of us & have to take some time away from wood cutting.
Then it's reals nice feeling to be way ahead with the wood supply.
Good luck getting a splitter & getting it split.
I still believe; "you can't have to much wood".
