What kind of wood do we have here? It all looks like oak to me.

Lots of dead standing with no branches, some of them you can just push over!

Red oak.
 
I'm going with oak too. Almost all of my wood piles look just like that. I'm surrounded by oak trees

you know why it looks like oak? because it is.
 
I don't see red oak. If it's oak, I think it's white. I have cords of red oak. It's red, This isnt the same
Hard to tell from pics, depends on the lighting, but the grain looks like oak.

If those are fresh split, I say white oakedokie :cool:
 
Boston Metro area would be Red Oak dead standing. The winter moth and beetle did not bother the White Oak just the Red.
