i bought this little stove for $125.00, and I have no idea what kind or year it is. It says Isaac A.Sheppard on it. Also, any guesses what the bowl on top is for? Thanks for any info.

Maybe water for humidification? Neat looking stove. Looks to be a wood burner, many stoves that show up here end up being coal stoves.

Just noticed the brass footrest/rail. Cool touch, very unique.

No clue as to make or model though.

That's a really cool stove. It was probably in someone's bedroom in a Victorian. Check the underside and back for casting marks.

I'm really jealous right now actually, especially for $125. Interesting flue outlet for a stove that has the intake on one side. Maybe it has some sort of secondary burn, not unheard of even over 100 years ago.

Kind of looks like a distant forefather of a Vermont Elm.

Parlor Stove. There were a few models of the Evening Home, different sizes with higher and lower isinglass opening like yours. They are usually missing the bowl, you got a deal !! It is a PA stove from Philadelphia. (I believe the Baltimore and NY stoves were marked like their pans made at the other foundries) Did you get it in PA? Larger factories like this one shipped by rail all over the country, so they can show up anywhere. Smaller foundries sold and remained local since transporting stoves was difficult and the reason for so many foundries across the country. There are quite a few websites with antique stove information; Ed Semmelroth at antiquestoves.com is a good place to start. Read over his site before contacting him, appraisals come with a price, so before selling it's good to know what the value is.
Replacement Mica is still very cheap, so it pays to get "clear" for a little extra.

It looks like it is still all blacked, or has it been painted?

Excelsior Stove Works.jpg 4 block factory Philly PA.

In this 1934 - 35 catalog a similar stove was in the "National" series called the Loyal National. I don't see Mica on it, so that was probably a cheaper version. Catalogs show up on eBay from time to time, 50 bucks or so is the normal selling price.
