White Oak?

I saw that and walked outside and relooked at the couple pieces I brought back with me. Not the same, I held them next to your pics...

Also notice that white oak always has a thick bark ring.
 
I did notice that while comparing... I don't have that at all...
 
The third round in the first pic looks like w oak bark. None of the wood itself looks like it. I think it's sweet gum.
I'm not sure... most of the gum in these woods that I avoid never had a bark like this... getting burned regardless!
