White pads on a Temco 36CDVRRN?? What are they??

Looking to identify these white pads so I can find a replacement. Located on the left and right sides, top, just behind the louvre.

They look like kaowool insulation pads. In that area I would not expect them to wear.

Not really an issue of wear, but smell. We can't seem to get rid of the burn dust smell and have cleaned every part and even have had it looked at professionally. This is the last easy (low cost) piece to be replaced before we look at more expensive options. Thanks for the insight.
 
The pads are unlikely to be the source of the smell. Is this a new installation?
