Whitfield profile 20 fault light?

Good evening,

I purchased a profile 20 used the guy]said it needs an igniter which I purchased just haven’t installed yet but when I start it manually via the start up procedure] it’ll fill the pot I put gel on it light it it drops pellets about an hour later the fault light comes on and the fire dies down so I dont think it’s a photoeye cause it feeds pellets the whole time. This is a learning curve for me coming from a wood stove.

It shuts down after 30 mins of run time.

You have a photo eye... they were terrible, got dirty and other problems. If you search this forum, you will find a way to turn that into a theromstat switch. Open when cold, closes when hot.

How is the stove burning? Busy bright yellow flame? Take your photo eye out and give it a cleaning. They can fail also.

I’m not sure how it’s supposed too burn but here’s a pic it’s kinda like a torch flame at times the photo eye is a pain to get too on my model from what I’ve seen by following the wires I gotta take a blower out, I spoke with someone at Mountain View hearth products and they think it’s a pressure switch. So I’m gonna test that tomorrow and if that is working properly I’m going to remove the photo eye and replace it.

I have one about an hour from me was gonna see if I could get one today, another dumb question is any 18-2 wire will work for this right? As long as it’s not speaker wire?

I used some wire on hand. Believe it was either 12 or 14 AWG. I got rid of the stove so I can't look, but it was an easy hookup.

Thank you I picked up some wire gonna try and jump the eye and see what happens my snap disk will be in tomorrow so if I can get the wire ran and routed Nicely my work tomorrow will be short and sweet

It wasn’t a bad job at all. Some wire, zip ties and a couple of butt splices took care of it. Good luck!

Thank you, It wasn’t that bad of a job the only thing I have to do is hook up the snap disk when it comes in about 3pm tomorrow lol.

I got aquatinted today with my stove with the help of my 8 year olds lol. I took everything out and reassembled and replaced the igniter since it was easy too get too at that point lol. Now it all works as it should. I would still be pulling my hair out if I didn’t find this forum thanks a bunch guys

Here’s the finished product of my install. Now the only problem that I have is the damn stove keeps tripping the surge protector any advise on this??

Check for worn wires. Some wire shorting on stove body. Is the fuse in the control board still good? If it is somwhere between the plug and the stove. Check where the plug goes into the stove and the connections around that area

It only does it on start up after that it runs fine. I’ll be shutting it down and checking all the wires and fuses today. I’ll report back with my findings.
